October 23rd - Morning Market Commentary

Grains are slightly higher at midday:

Corn + 2 ¼ cents/bu (Dec @ 4.18 ½ )

Soybeans + ¼ cent/bu (Nov @ 3.74)

Chi Wheat + 6 cents/bu (Dec @ 6.29)

Cdn $ -0.00030 (76.70 cents)

WTI Crude Oil -0.74/barrel (39.89)

We have seen relatively narrow trading ranges for grains during the day session on Friday.  Soybeans have spent the vast majority of the day in negative territory, while cereal grains have been up all day.  The anticipation for more robust corn exports out of the USA is providing underlying support.  Today, the USDA confirmed a Flash Sale of corn for 100,000 tonnes to an Unknown destination.

Wheat is getting a nice turnaround bounce higher.  Rains continue to be forecast for the USA southern Plains, but recent precipitation accumulations in Russia have been disappointing, with a drier forecast for that region in the coming week to 10 days.
