Soybeans – 26 ¼ cents/bu (Mar @ 14.90 1/2)

Chi Wheat -2 1/2 cents/bu (Mar @ 6.73)

WTI Crude Oil  +0.56/barrel (52.92)

The USDA announced a series of flash sales this morning:

132,000 tonnes of soybeans to China for 2021/22

128,000 tonnes of corn to Japan for 2020/21

100,000 tonnes of corn to Israel for 2020/21

In total, that’s 9 million bushels of corn, and 4.9 million bushels of beans.

The export sales report was released today for the week ending January 14. Corn performance was disappointing, while soybeans were better than anticipated, and wheat was within expectations.

Rains in South America over the weekend were very helpful to the struggling soybean crop potentially decreasing the amount of crop loss that was expected.

Despite rumors about Mexico ceasing to buy GMO corn within the next 3 year, corn futures are remaining fairly close to unchanged.

As we near closer to the inauguration of Joe Biden as the president of the United States, the potential for volatility in all markets is very plausible.
